4 Apr 2011
The Guangzhou Acrobatic Circus staged the first of a series of spectacular shows in Pattaya last Friday. The performances at the Pattaya Indoor Sports Stadium continued over the weekend and the final performance will take place at 19:00 on Wednesday.
Visitors wishing to take in the unique opportunity of seeing this acrobatic and theatrical extravaganza have three more chances as the circus only performs in the evenings on weekdays.
Since the Guangzhou Acrobatic Circus was formed more than 50 years ago it has won numerous awards and accolades, which include the 1981 French International Acrobatic Contest and the Chinese Ministry of Culture winning nomination in 1979.
Since its conception the Guangzhou Acrobatic Circus has maintained its allegiance to the Guangdong region’s traditional acrobatic skills, but has further honed them with innovative theatricals, modern dance and artistic gymnastic offerings. The troupe is now 200-strong and boasts some of the finest choreographers and circus performers from southern China.
The set performed by the Guangzhou Acrobatic Circus includes the customary high-rise stunts with performers hanging from trapeze bars, kite dances, pyramid acts and choreographed dances with fearless players strutting their diverse moves on top of lofty poles. Trampoline hoops and shake bar stunts also make an appearance in the programme.
The venue for this visual arts extravaganza is located on Jomtien’s Soi Chaiyapreuk 2. More information about the shows can be obtained by calling 02-833-5555.
