Tourist attacked and robbed in street

A DRUNKEN Russian tourist has been beaten unconscious by thieves in Pattaya who stole his watch and mobile phone.

The victim had apparently been drinking with his assailants in the moments leading up to the attack, by the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort in Soi Wongamat, Naklua.

Police Captain Buakla arrived at the scene on Sunday to find a man in his mid-30s dressed in a pair of shorts but with no t-shirt.

The victim smelled strongly of alcohol and seemed to have suffered from a blow to the face and head from a blunt object.

Emergency services immediately attended to the man in the street before rushing him to hospital for further treatment.

A witness said he saw the victim drinking with two young men in their mid-20s before one repeatedly struck him over then head with a wooden plank.

The pair then stole his belongings before fleeing the scene along the Pattaya-Naklua Road on a motorcycle.
