Train
Going to Pattaya by train is recommended because it will avoid the unpleasant trip from downtown Bangkok to the Ekamai Bus Station. From the Hualampong train station there’s a train leaving twice a day to Pattaya. Duration of the journey is about three hours. At the Pattaya Train Station there are motorcycle taxies and often songthaews offering services for transportation to Pattaya City. The train station is situated four kilometers from Pattaya City. For information please call the Hualampong Train Station (02) 2230341. (English spoken) on Krung Kasem Road in Bangkok.
The Pattaya Train Station is to be found Off Siam Country Club Road, turn left just before the railway. (Soi Siam Country club, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi) Tel: 038-429-285 (no English spoken). You can buy a ticket to Bangkok here.
For transportation in Pattaya you could use the Songthaews which are covered, dark blue pickup trucks with open sides and seats along each side. To stop a songthaew, wave your hand downward a couple of times. To get off, press the buzzer on the roof. The songthaews are convenient for those who rely on public transport. They continually ply Beach Road and Pattaya 2nd Road in a counter clockwise circuit.
Motorcycle taxis – The drivers wear colored vests with numbers on the back. About the price you can negotiate but it will not always be cheap. Though it can be a fast way to reach your destination. Please bear in mind that you are at your own risk when using a motorcycle taxi. Often the motorcycle taxies are not insured and helmets are not available.
Tuk tuk drivers will go anywhere in Sriracha and sometimes can be hired for a ride to Naklua and Pattaya. It is recommended to negotiate the driver’s fare in advance.
Chauffeured car hire – Private taxis with air conditioning are the four-door Sedans and the price is negotiable.
